IT’S HERE !!! - The Drawtones Brand New Album “ HAMMOND LOW DOWN”.

In just 7 years this will be The Drawtones 4th studio album. Their first was a download only release in 2016 “Bellevue EP”. In 2017 the band teamed up with the Jools Holland saxophonist Derek Nash and produced their 2nd release “Down the Line”. In 2021 legendary “Average White Band” jazz and funk guitarist Jim Mullen featured in their 3rd album “Groovin’ Magic”.

“Hammond Low Down” released on this day 21st July 2023 celebrates some of the most iconic jazz, funk and blues covers with The Drawtones placing their own authentic groove to all 10 tracks. The tracks on the album feature music from artists such as Grover Washington Jr, George Duke, Booker T Jones, Dan Moretti, George Harrison and many more.

Line up on the album includes: Rod Pooley - Hammond Organ/ Keys, Simon Bates - Soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxophones, Andy Williams - Guitar, Daniel Dotor - Bass and Jessica Dann - Drums.

A big thank you to Nick Taylor at Porcupine Studios, London for a superb job with the recording, mixing and mastering. Also a special thank you to Ela Southgate who designed the album artwork.

A busy few months in the  recording studio.

Both Rod Pooley and The Drawtones have spent several days in a London recording studio during May and June 2023. You’ll have to wait just a couple more weeks for some exciting news on what The Drawtones have been up to there. For now, Rod’s brand new solo album “In Concert” performed on the flagship Yamaha Genos Digital Workstation keyboard has received rave reviews so far. The Drawtones to become an all Yamaha 

 Band.

As from June 2023 The Drawtones are delighted to become the very first UK jazz, funk and soul band to be showcasing all Yamaha products. These will include Genos and YC keyboards, YAS875 EX saxophone, SA2200 semi acoustic jazz guitar, BBP 35 Pro 5 string bass guitar and the Stage Custom Bop drum kit.

We will be launching this brand new set up at our next Jazz and Tapas Night on Friday 21st July 2023.

Introducing our new Saxophonist Simon Bates 🎷

The Drawtones are delighted to welcome official Yamaha Artist since 1994 Simon Bates as our new regular saxophonist.

Simon will feature on our brand new album and future live shows, including our next Jazz and Tapas Night at Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston on Friday 21st July 2023. 8pm.

Simon has worked with Bette Midler, Kylie Minogue, Elvis Costello, Alexander Armstrong, Rick Astley and many more.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to the wonderful Jo Fooks who felt our rising profile was just going to be too much to commit to. Jo is very much still a valued musician in our team along with her husband Buster Birch. We will no doubt see them both join us if needs be.

The Drawtones first appeared at Ronnie Scott’s in December 2018. We are delighted to announce we will be performing this time for 2 nights in October 2021.

On Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd October 2021, our Hammond Groove will be on the main stage at Ronnie Scott’s for a couple of upbeat Late Late Shows.

The 1st Set is 11.30pm - 12.15am and the 2nd Set is 1am - 1.45am with a funky DJ in between.

COVID - 19 - Restrictions lifting...

20th April 2021

The UK Government has set out the road map for lifting COVID 19 restrictions.

As from Monday 17th May, indoor hospitality will resume steadily with up to 6 people from 2 households once again permitted to go to pubs, cafes and restaurants.

From June 21st, all being well everything is planned to reopen as normal with face masks and some distancing protocols still being administered by many outlets and venues.

We are pleased to announce our first live show in front of people again will be at Pizza Express Jazz Club, The Pheasantry, Chelsea, London SW3 4UT on Thursday 15th July 2021.

2020 kicks off with two cracking shows. The Drawtones will be staging their very popular Jazz and Tapas Night and return to Pizza Express Jazz Club in Maidstone.

Friday 24th January 2020 - We are delighted to be holding our Jazz and Tapas Night once again at the lovely Deans Place Hotel, Seaford Road, Alfriston, East Sussex BN26 5TW.

Our special guest will be Jools Holland Saxophonist Derek Nash.

If you’re a fan of top class live music, great food and generally a good night out, The Drawtones have two fantastic shows to look forward to this coming August.

Saturday 24th August 2019 - We are delighted to be performing at the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival 2019. Our  performance is free to enter, held on the Kino Outdoor Stage, Lion Street, Rye, East Sussex. Our set of 90 minutes begins at 2pm.

Friday 30th August 2019 - Again free to enter, Hands Up Duo will be performing at the great Eastbourne live music pub, The Crown & Anchor, Marine Parade, Eastbourne from 9pm.
